What is Stewardship?

“All things come of thee, O Lord, and of Thine own have we given Thee.”

We say these words together each Sunday as our gifts are brought forward to the altar table…along with the bread and wine that will be used in the Holy Eucharist.

These words convey quite succinctly our understanding that all we have in life; from the money we have worked hard to make and everything else we tend to call ‘ours’, to the very breath of life itself, is actually given to us by God.  Because we are so gifted by an abundantly gracious God, we are willing to give back to God just a small portion of that which we have been given.

Our gifts to God should always come from a feeling of our gratefulness for the gifts God has given us.  Grateful hearts are generous hearts.
